Building and maintaining a club’s membership numbers isn’t always easy – but on Saturday, January 21, 2017, over 175 Toastmasters attended the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) to learn how using social media can help find new members boost club health.
Held at the Crowne Plaza in Independence, the program began at 8 am and ran until 3pm, with a lunch buffet. Program Quality Director, Tim Juda hosted the event and welcomed all attendees.
Using Social Media presenters and content included Anant Mathur with a keynote on why your club should use social media and a presentation on how to build and use FreeToastHost for your club’s website. District Public Relations Manager, Sue Woods gave Tips on Designing your Social Media presentations, Southern Division Director, Kim Krajci gave tips on using Meet-Up and Facebook to attract new members, Joe Cook gave us information on using PayPal.
More content was presented on using Speechcraft by Central Division – Area 13 Director, Ed Haller. Make It An Event! says Club Growth Director, Vicky Nann is the key to have a successful Open House and attract visitors. Club officer roles were also reviewed in breakout sessions. There was also an informative presentation on our upcoming program Pathways presented by District 10 Ambassador Deonna Taylor.
Tim Juda also explains the importance of Division and Area Director Roles. If you need to complete your district service requirements to obtain your DTM, you should consider signing up for one of these important roles soon. You will need one year of service to complete this requirement.
The District would also like to thank Doug Thiessen for building our new remote control timing lights that debuted at our Judge’s Training event hosted by District Director, Dave Wiley.
