How to Step Out of the Shadows and Claim
Your Rightful Place in the Spotlight!

Do you know anyone who has lived part of his or her life “backstage”?

overcome_shynessYou would label her “Shy.  Reserved.  Hesitant.  Insecure.”  She doesn’t call attention to herself or her work.  Her “stagefright” keeps her out of the limelight at home, at work, and in every area of her life.

Now … do you know someone like that who joined Toastmasters and completely turned his or her life around?

You see it start with a smile.

That big smile gracing the face of the nervous Toastmaster enjoying thunderous applause after delivering his Icebreaker.  (The sound of applause is delicious, isn’t it?  It’s great to have the world at your feet.)

You see it again when a Toastmaster begins volunteering to fill speaking slots at meetings.  Then again when she raises her hand as a candidate for Club President.  And again when she takes on a role as a District Leader like Area Governor.

“If my friends could see me now,” she says!

Toastmasters is famous for helping people go “from Backstage to Center Stage” … and that is what we will be celebrating at our Fall 2014 Conference in October.

We’ve Got Magic to Do … Just For You!

Come along and join us for the District 10 Fall Conference in Downtown Cleveland this October.

The star of the show is YOU, and we have quite a show planned!

There will be contests and prizes and stunning surprises. You’ll laugh and you’ll smile, and after a while you’ll engage with new friends, and when it all ends you’ll glow with delight how you spent day and night learning to step into the center stage of your life!

Darren LaCroix, 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking

Darren LaCroix, 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking

First, Join Us for a Very Special Opening Night!

Opening night for the Fall Conference is Friday, October 10th, with a special presentation by a Toastmasters World Champion of Public Speaking!

Darren LaCroix, who won the award in 2001, will be flying into town from Las Vegas to start our conference with a fun-filled night of education and excitement called “Own the Stage ‘Live’ Coaching”! Darren will share the winning secrets of Toastmasters’ World Champions, plus coach volunteers LIVE on how they can improve their speeches!

Saturday:  Act 1

Early Saturday morning, the curtain goes up on the main stage at the Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown Cleveland.

While everyone else sleeps in, your Club and District representatives will gather like the cast of 1776 to piddle, twiddle, and resolve at the ever-popular District Business Meeting held at each conference.

The next scenes feature the Opening Ceremonies, and your choice of six educational sessions to help you develop skills as a speaker and person.

Saturday:  Act 2

Act 2 begins with “Food, Glorious Food” at the Conference Luncheon.  Not the gruel served in the workhouse of Oliver!, mind you, but a sumptuous buffet lunch with your fellow actors Toastmasters.

Then, it’s our version of The “Tony” Awards!  Your District Governor, Tony Green, DTM, will oversee the District awards ceremony as Immediate Past District Governor Debbie Curtis hands out awards to the Toastmaster of the Year, Area Governor of the Year, Division Governor of the Year, and other presenters give special recognition for the District’s top Toastmasters.

Next, you get to watch a true pro at work!  Superstar Darren LaCroix will take Center Stage with an exciting keynote that will change how you look at presentations and your journey, “Darren-teed”.

Finally, a small chorus of District 10 presenters takes over for another set of educational workshops, and Darren takes the stage again to dazzle and delight you in a general session workshop for everyone!  Come learn from the best!

… And a happy ending, of course!

As Saturday winds down, let us entertain you with the funniest speakers in District 10, and the people who can think fastest on their feet.  It’s the District Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest to close out a jam-packed show!

Screen Shot 2014-05-30 at 10.43.12 PMWould you like to affect your audiences at a deeper level?

Want your presentation to be remembered for years to come?

How can you do that with just one change in your hero’s journey?

Come find out…

This is not some new technique or speaking strategy. This unique presentation will change how you look at presentations and your journey, Darren-teed.

Out of 25,000 contestants from 14 countries, Darren LaCroix won the World Championship of Public Speaking. He says that was just the beginning of his commitment to becoming the best teacher of public speaking.

If you think you have seen Darren LaCroix before, you will be surprised. This is a brand new presentation that has only been given once before.

Our presentations don’t change until we do.

You will walk away from this session

  • Knowing how to affect your audiences more deeply
  • Understanding how to create better stories
  • With a new perspective on your own journey

Keynote speaker and songwriter Carla Back said, “Your Hero’s Journey will be a landmark in my life. I will go back and remember that that is where things changed.”

This new type of presentation will stick with you for years to come because of Darren’s use of “Gamification” (pronounced Game-i-fication).  What is Gamification? Come join us for this and find out![/su_tab]
