Patricia Spayer, DTM, District Director Elect

Patricia Spayer

District Director Nominee

Dear District 10 members,

It is my honor and privilege to run for the office of District Director.

I joined Toastmasters in 2008 as the shy, reserved member who preferred to sit in the back of the room and avoided eye contact when the Table Topics Master looked for participants. My day job is Technical Writer and Illustrator, so naturally my original response to talking was “I’m a writer, not a speaker.” Over the years, I’ve been faced with last-minute “opportunities” to speak or host a webinar. As my Toastmasters skills grew, my response changed from “I’m a writer” to “I’m a Toastmaster.”

Robert Churilla, DTM, Program Quality Director Elect

Robert Churilla

Program Quality Director Nominee

"I am privileged to be a candidate for the District 10 Program Quality Director position. I originally joined Toastmasters in 2005 and since 2016 have been active in a number of Toastmasters Clubs. At present, I am a member of Independently Speaking, Westside Advanced Toastmasters and Diversity4Success. I have served in a number of officer roles including: President, Vice President of Membership and Vice President of Public Relations. Beginning in 2017, I have been active at the District 10 level. I have served as the chair of the Volunteer Committee for the 2017 District 10 Fall Conference. In 2018 I served as the co-chair of the District 10 Spring Conference."

Sandra Orland, DL5, EC5, Club Growth Director Elect

Sandra E. Orland

Club Growth Director Nominee

"It is an honor and privilege to be a candidate for 2021-2022 District 10 Club Growth Director position. Serving as District 10 Public Relations Manager for 2020-2021, I had the opportunity of working closely with the Trio and with the Top 7 on public relations interests and district efforts. I was able to reshape our weekly communications during the challenging times of the pandemic and strive to keep spirits elevated. I was also able to, through the vision of our District Director, Alicia Smith-Kirk, DTM, and second data verification of our D10 Data Analyst, Dan Minder, DTM, purchase of the postcards by Finance Manager, April Ware, CC, CL, design and implement our Happy Holiday postcard mailer to all our members in District 10."

Andrea Wells

Central Division Director Nominee

"I joined Toastmasters in 2016, with the intent to improve upon my public speaking skills. I was met with an instant family of supporters who went above and beyond to help me achieve my goals. Toastmasters has given me a venue where I can be my true self and tell my story in a safe space and receive feedback in a supportive environment. I have remained a member of Toastmasters to quote Jedi Master Yoda, “pass on what I have learned.” I truly only experience personal growth, when I share what I have learned with others and help them apply it to their curriculum."

Tracey Touma, EC5, Eastern Division Director Elect

Tracey Touma

Eastern Division Director Nominee

"This coming year, I am humbled and honored to be a candidate as the Eastern Division Director.  I joined Toastmasters as a charter member of a corporate club CCAC Toastmasters March of 2018.  I had the desire to learn to communicate my message clearly, concisely and with just enough passion.  Through the years I have learned that Toastmasters is much more than communication and leadership.  Learning to give feedback, listening, organization skills, time management, meeting agendas, learning to follow-up, connecting to your audience, learning to talk impromptu, motivating and empowering others to name  just a few."

Srikanth Reddy

Eastern Division Director Nominee

"I am honored to be a candidate for Eastern Division Director.

Toastmasters has truly made a huge impact in the way I communicate socially and professionally. Toastmasters and its members helped me in becoming a better communicator and leader.

I have been a member of Toastmasters and District 10 for over 5 years. While serving in multiple roles as a club leader and as an Area Director, I formed many new relations. These relationships also gave me an opportunity to be a better leader and gain ideas while interacting with veteran Toastmasters.

As a Division Director I want to continue contributing to District 10,"

Peter Shelling, DTM, Northern Division Director Elect

Peter Shelling

Northern Division Director Nominee

"In 2013, I - like most of you --joined Toastmasters with the idea that it could help me become a better speaker. While that goal has been realized, it was also rather short-sighted as I discovered both the breadth and depth of the full Toastmasters experience. The goal has changed from a specific destination to a wondrous journey. The best part is the great people I have met along the way, sharing the trek-- learning, growing and challenging ourselves together."

Catherine Peterson, DTM, Southern Division Director

Catherine Peterson

Southern Division Director Nominee

"I joined Toastmasters in July 2014 as a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Toastmasters Club. I served Cuyahoga Falls as Sergeant At Arms, Secretary, VPE and President. In 2019-2020 I pursued district service as an Area Director in Area 14, and I currently serve as the Southern Division Director.  I was proud to achieve my first DTM in July 2020. In addition to my district service I have received credit for mentoring one club, and coaching another. Outside of Toastmasters, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Kent State University with a minor in Sociology and Dance."

Mike Arthur, EC4, Western Division Director

Mike Arthur

Western Division Director Nominee

"This year I am a candidate to serve as the Western Division Director.  I am excited for the opportunity.  I began my Toastmasters journey in the fall of 2019.  My home club is Wayne County Toastmasters.  I have had the pleasure of serving Wayne County TM first as the VP of Membership and now as the VP Education.  I am also currently serving as the Area 43 Director.  Last year I served as the District Conference Registrar.  I am now helping our District with registration.  I work for the American Red Cross as the Northern Ohio Mass Care & Logistics Manager,"
