Updates December 2021
This message from Toastmasters International to Club Presidents addresses queries about policies for vaccinations and masks for club meetings.
In short: please follow local governmental and venue requirements at which the event is taking place.
Below you will find the TI directive regarding 2020-2021 District Events and Speech Contests and their rationale. In addition, Toastmasters International refers to their concern for a potential "second wave of the virus, keeping a consistent experience for the speech contestants and officials throughout the various levels in all Districts," and the Board's concern for the health and safety of our members.
Dear District 10 Members,
As we persist amongst the ongoing rise of Covid-19 cases, making our best efforts to stay safe and motivated, we understand that many of you may feel overwhelmed. We are here to encourage you to "look for the silver lining." Although we miss seeing each other in-person and meeting face-to-face, we can still connect safely online during these tough times.
Ohio Health Dept. Update
Most counties in Northeast Ohio are categorized as red counties by the Ohio Department of Health. This indicates a Level 3 Public Emergency defined as very high exposure and spread. Limit activities as much as possible.
Follow all current health orders:
- Decrease in-person interactions with others.
- Consider necessary travel only.
- Limit attending gatherings of any number.
The primary concern for District 10 leadership is the health and safety of its members. Current circumstances seem to indicate that restrictions on public gatherings may be necessary at least until next summer. Those of us in District leadership share your desire to see our Toastmaster friends. Nevertheless, we urge caution when there are calls to go back to having in-person meetings. By remaining safe, we look forward to a glorious reunion and celebration next year.
In the meantime, we are calling everyone to #EmbraceD10online. Let’s take advantage of the Zoom training and extra opportunities to learn how to present contests online across the district, despite our current situations.
