First Timers Contest Prep Event

Fellow Toastmasters,

I attended my first competition 2 years ago. Last year I served as a judge. I noticed that the same people compete year after year. I heard from several people

  • “I’m afraid to tackle those experienced speakers,”
  • “I don’t know the crowd I’ll be speaking to.”

We want to change that!

Announcing the First Timers Speech Contest

This informal, district-wide speech competition is open to ONLY those who never competed outside their club. I want you, the new toastmaster, the one who:

  • Dreaded the idea of competing against our district’s more experienced Toastmasters,
  • Couldn’t take the risk of getting up there,
  • Thought they have no chance

What have you got to lose?

The judges will be you. You will have a chance to mingle with like-minded Toastmasters and enjoy a pleasant evening of speeches.

We want to hear everything! Speeches can be funny, in preparation for the upcoming competition season. They can be tall tales or an inspirational speech. Decisions on format will be adjusted when we see who’s ready to step up on the stage.

Join us!

The meeting will be outdoors on

Wednesday, July 27th from 6-9 pm.
Sulphur Springs Picnic Area, South Chagrin Reservation
(Click here for map and directions)

We will meet in the shelter. Bring something to grill, a side dish and something to drink.

Consider this your competition icebreaker.
